Leaders / Managers of the 21th century

Thought leaders are necessary in today's life , you have to extremely practical and aware about the global economy .. prepared for any and everykind of change and also to master it.
"Alive to what is happening" in short..

cross functional management is acceptable ,you have to be a generalist rather than a specialist.Communication skills have to developed and enhanced.Strong people management skills help in managing people from every type of culture and social background.Being technically sound and work long hours..
some people have a concept of working smart , i still am to understand.. that concept so i work hard and long.Read a lot.. give an hour to learn about the products u are supposed to sell..set goals and objectives so that u can ascertain your performance....
now how this can be done..

-have a vision
-optimism has to be used as force multiplier

Alumini interaction

during the interaction today with mr.anil khanna and mr sudhir kant here at ubs chandigarh .
i learnt some new stuff..

mr anil khanna started with importance of learning and stressed to avoid favorites in studies, he said the mistake he made in college was to have favorite subjects and not so favorite ones .. and during the course of the career he realized the emphasis has to be equal in all .Basically he stressed that balance leads to stability.. knowledge is power and knowledge is what derives respect from you in front of the world. Every subject is important, everything is important.. he stressed that even when in the times of recession, knowledge is the path to innovation...
the importance to come back on time to home and balance out chores..
the importance of writing what you want to do in written.. this is something similiar to what one of my professors also told me he said that " jotting down things u want to do gives additional power to your action"
he said time management is about knowing what u want to do.. and only those people who avoid what they have to do .. end up saying that they don't have enough time..
though both the speakers stressed on the importance of enjoying your work .. sudhir kant gave an personal example for it .
there was also a mention to more customer friendly attittude- to know his needs.. ( i believe there is also a case to even anticipate needs..)
sudhir kant made a presentation on 21th century managers.. how they should be..
he anticipated the challenges to be crisis management.. he also emphasied the need to read and to learn more.. giving example of himself he says he still needs to study 1 hour days to be in touch with the latest technologies ,he also stressed the role of the manager in development giving a corrolary between developement and maangers he said that "there are no manager in underdeveloped places" giving proof about the huge ego of the manager.he said that in the future due to the information boom the difference between workers and managers would decrease. Though he did not give any solutions to the crisis prevailing in the world he said it is an oppurtunity to the innovative companies and those who take the good times with the bad.he mentioned the need for vision besides others factors .. more on this later.. kinda late and my frds are asking to wrap the blog..

Fighting spirit

fighting spirit ,this is one of the most underrated qualities people have , the will to never given in ,to never give up , to take thing for as they are and then improve ameliorate .Its easier to give up sometimes ,its easier to walk a different part and forget about what you dream and believe in but you know in your heart your dreams will haunt you and  you would think what if ..
fighting spirit is not just performance on the day ..its the road its working hard and making that hard work count remembering your mistakes and working harder to improve them, you know what gives the greatest pleasure is to do better than you think u can .. to do something you practiced so hard to get through ..to work just a little more harder...
why do u push and do things .. i guess we love something more ...the love of something makes us stronger to push... the brink an inch..and inch by inch the brink becomes a mile and then we think how much have we grown..
