Motivation

Motivation is just another word for following one's instincts.

For the last one month i have been pondering on whether to pursue an MBA or a MS.This has been my bane and many others like me who in third year have no clue.To be or not to be(heard of shakespeare) that is the question.I actually started preparing for GRE
last year but my parents don't seem excited about this at all.So all i got out of it was a vocab and a loads of knowledge on various topics. Then thinking if i want to do an MBA then better atleast learn what it's all about, i interned at IIMA last summer to understand what is an MBA from the best in India.I learned its a combination of thinking smart and producing more results.Analysing situation etc (i thought this seems easy ,i have been doing it in chess for so many years) are the core basis.
Anaysis of worksheets ,balancesheets, spreadsheets etc etc ,case studies by the number
sitting in the library for 6 hours daily form a nice routine.Hey no wonder they call it the toughest B school in India woking 15 hours a day ,no one sleeps more than 6 hours(did i say six its lower in most cases) suprise quizzes assignments.Did i mention the fact that you have come to class to discuss rather than to be taught. All chapters have to read in advance.Discipline takes a new form and timings are reespected ,you cannot get late in class etc etc you cannot fall sick ,100% attendance is compulsory.

coming to my side

I know that i am not perfect for a s/w engineer's job.But i know i can be very persuasive and unyielding .I can intuitively understand a lot of situations besides
my secret ambitions of owning mansions, jets etc... Now I am motivated enough to get what I want.So i decided on PGP in management or an MBA.
Techniques for motivation
1. Try a SWOT analysis. Follow this link:http://www.quickmba.com/strategy/swot/.
2. Meditate and try and understand what you want. Try to think of some events that have shaped your life(this is tough i mean really tough if you have some cobwebs in your life).Or Why do you think you are what you are?
3. The Real question:Why do you want what you want? Is it just money, fame, power sense of belief etc. or something more? And how badly do you want it? This question appears in different forms in all interviews. 'Why MBA' is just a form of this question. Believe me, it is worthy to know this.
4. One sincere suggestion is: don't think about the problems that you will need to face when you think about above 3 questions. At this step, you will know where you should ideally be. Be tough to yourself and don't fall into fallacies like 'since i can dream all day, I can be a dreamer.
5. Now that you know where you should be, try to visualize. Well, it is true when they say that visualization is one thing that keeps humans above other forms of animals. There can be endless arguements on this point, but plz ...
I try to visualize in detail whatever I want. And when I get up from my session, I am roaring to go.It is like seeing before you do it,instincts etc all come from his tautological process ,that you see yourself again and again in that position
6. Get to know the marvels, be it a musical piece or a written word. I usually think about this "I was once a sperm who beat million others". Funny though true...
7. Think what can be and not just what is. It is a powerful statement though stolen from 'The magic of thinking BIG'.
8. If your lack of motivation is because of other powerful distractors, try praying. And do it consistently. You will definitely feel the positive result in a week or so...
